Review Website, Edit and Make Suggestions
Tejanath has included information about SESF and child sponsorship on the new website www.Sankhuwasabha.com. Please review the information currently posted there and make suggestions for information to add or any edits that might be needed so that this can also be an effective marketing tool for SESF.
Keep in mind that this website is NOT specifically for SESF. SESF is just using the site as another means to advertise information about their organization with the world. Since Tejanath did pay for this site to be established, there is a hope that others will pay to advertise on the site and that a portion of this money can be returned to SESF.

Tejanath-
Under the "Sponsor a Child" section, I really believe that you should include the basic information about how much it costs, what benefits the child receives as a result of being sponsored, and what the sponsor can expect to receive from SESF. I would recommend that you remove the children's names as well as those of the sponsors private.
Under "Donate SESF"-Is it safe to have your bank account number in plain site on the website?? The instructions for the Western Union money transfer are also not clear. More detail needs to be added.
Since this website is not specific to SESF, I would recommend that you keep all SESF information on a single tab rather than 4 different ones (About SESF, Our Activities, Sponsor a Child and Donate SESF). If your intent is to utilize this website primarily for the tourism project, I think it is very confusing to the reader to figure out what the current website is about. If Rahul can assist us with transferring the current SESF blog into Word Press, I think that you will find it has greater functionality and can do many of the same things that you are trying to do here. With that, you could focus SESF information there rather than this website and leave this one strictly for the tourism project.

I agree. I think it is critical to keep the focus of this website on tourism- and advising potential tourist to the are on matters that are important for a traveller: eg, where can I sleep? where can I eat; why should I go to this district? what things can I see there? and of course info about treking.
the info about SESF and the sponsorship program should be seperate, and the role of SESF in this should be clearly defined. I also agree that private info about donors should be removed.
But these are small changes that can be made quickly:)

Tejanath and I spoke about the website again today. He understands the importance of keeping SESF and the Sankhuwasabha tourism project separate. We tried out weebly.com and he was able to load a draft website to hopefully replace the SESF blog. Since he will be presenting the Sankhuwasabha.com website in about a week to some important people in Sankhuwasabha, I'm not sure all of the changes will be made prior to that presentation, so we need someone to read through what's written and identify anything that needs to be edited. I am asking this specifically for the SESF information located there. Eventually this will all be condensed to one tab, but for now he wants it to be correct and as presentable as possible.
Please post anything you find that needs changed here so that Tejanath has a list to work from.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Jennifer

Tejanath-
Can you clarify whether or not you are able to publish edits to the website yourself, or are you reliant on the man in Kathmandu to do that for you?
What about removing information? Can you do that yourself, or they have to do it for you?
I was just thinking that we should be able to get the basic website up for SESF on weebly pretty quickly, so rather than spending a lot of time editing the SESF information on the Sankhuwasabha website, maybe it would be better to remove that information altogether from that site so that SESF has it's own and again that site can be devoted entirely to tourism. Another option would be to focus on condensing that information down into a basic information like an advertisement for SESF that could be included on a page of the Sankhuwasabha website-maybe something referencing that SESF sponsored the development of that website?
What do you think?

Hey,
It's important to make a better distinction between the tourism project and the SESF project.
I also think it's a good idea to remove all the SESF information from the Sankhuwasabha website. And edit the exisiting information to fit in the weebly account. I think Jennifer's idea of creating an advertisement for SESF that could be included on a page of the Sankhuwasabha website wouold be great. I think tourists/travelers would also be interested in volunteer work. Maybe it's possible to include information about SESF on a special tab/page dedicated to volunteer work in the area on the Sankhuwasabha website?

Hi Lotte-
Tejanath and I spent quite a bit of time discussing this issue this morning. He explained that the local community wants to do more with www.sankhuwasabha.com website than I had orginally thought. Basically they want to make this site like an online newspaper which adds a whole other dimension to this discussion.
I explained to Tejanath that information presented in a website format needs to be consistent. His vision is still to include information about tourism in Sankhuwasabha with the news information. Tejanath says that many people have contacted him and are interested in advertising on the site. He also said that they hope to employ journalists and several others-like you would typically see from a newspaper or online news source.
I have a lot of concerns about whether or not advertisments on the site will cover the total cost for all of this and still achieve the object that Tejanath originally set out to achieve-which was income from advertising for SESF. Tejanath still seems to think it will work well.
I told Tejanath today that I feel like we are at an impass. We agreed though to establish a website for SESF on weebly per your suggestion. I have one started already for them, so hopefully I can get that published this week and it can be added to as needed later on. I've also stressed to Tejanath that I really do not feel the local community is ready to focus on the tourism project-largely because they have been so focused and consumed with developing the website. I think until they've published this as they want it to be, there's not much we can do to help. Tejanath believes based on the feedback that he is getting locally that this is a good solution for them and that it will be an effective tool. So I guess we agree to disagree for now and allow the local community time to figure this out and get things as they want them to be with the website.
At this point, I think they need to try it their way and see what works and what doesn't for themselves so that we can move forward.

Tejanath-
Is it possible for you to merge the information from the following tabs into one on the www.sankhuwasabah.com website? Your website developer should know how to merge this information into a single tab with nested sections-where you click on a single tab and have the option of going to any of the 4 tabs you have below.
About SESF
Our Activities
Sponsor a Child
Donate SESF
Is there a way you can ask him to do that?
