Discuss child sponsorship or other options to support orphans at the school

Step:
2

Christopher is considering adding a page on a school website pertaining to orphaned children who are unable to pay their school fees. Notre Dame High School has many orphans. They have read about the program that was started in the Matopeni village and are considering trying to replicate it at their school.

RESEARCH-transportation options for getting students to school

Step:
1

As a long-term goal, Notre Dame High School would like to one day purchase a mini-bus. This would be used to transport children to school and also to workshops/seminars. At the present time, there are not finances available to do this.

For this task we would like to research alternative transportation solutions. Some of the children come to school from very far away. Some live nearby as well, but others have to walk between 2-5 miles to/from the school location. One of the options that has been mentioned in previous discussion is use of bicycles.

Sanitary pads for female students

Step:
1

For many girls at Notre Dame High School, going to school during a monthly menstrual cycle is not possible without feminine hygiene products such as sanitary pads. Disposable pads are expensive and many simply cannot afford these.

There are alternative options for making reusable, cloth sanitary pads. For this task, we would like your input and information on different options available so that we can explore a solution that can be easily implemented with the girls at our school.

Help Secure Health Information Pamphlets and Health Education Materials

Step:
1

This task is focused on providing help to the Community Health Team of Arrow-Web Hospital.

Do you know where we can obtain health information pamphlets or health education materials for free or low-cost? Pamphlets pertaining to HIV/AIDS, Malaria prevention, water-born diseases, proper sanitation and other health concerns would all be of great benefit to the Community Health Team at the hospital.

Help us locate and secure these resources for the staff to help educate and promote healthy living in the local community.

Help Secure Medical Reference Books for the Hospital

Step:
1

Arrow-Web Hospital would like to obtain valuable medical reference books to have on hand at the hospital. These may include things such as a Medical Dictionary, Physician's Desk Reference, and current Drug Guide.

For this task, we are seeking volunteers to research where we might get these books donated and for people who are willing to make contact with these organizations to see if we can secure reference books for the staff at Arrow-Web Hospital.

The attached link may be a good place to start.

Write Content for the Education Concern Center Website

Step:
1

Alicia, a volunteer from the United States, is in Nepal for the next 6 months to work with Min. She has created a website located here:

http://eccnepal.wordpress.com/

For this task, we are looking for volunteers to help Alicia by writing content that can be transferred onto the website. She already has some thought starters listed.

If you have specific questions about the Education Concern Center to help you with this task, those can be posted here so we can provide necessary clarification.

Share your Fundraising Ideas

Step:
3

We need you to help us brainstorm creative fundraising ideas!

Have you been involved with fundraising efforts at a local school or community organization? We are looking for creative ideas for fundraisers that ECC might be able to implement in Nepal. Research can be done on the Internet for this task, or you can simply share from experience.

We would like to create a "bank" of ideas, so that ECC can learn from the experience of others and try utilizing some of these different strategies to help fund their work in Nepal.
